Warner Baseball Takes Series Against Spring Arbor University

LAKE WALES, FL- The Royals took on the Spring Arbor University Cougars in a four game series on Royals field in Lake Wales, Fla.

In game one, the Royals looked to gain the momentum early on against the Cougars as John Malcom would give the Royals an early lead by doubling in Luis Cedeno to bring in the first run of the game. In the bottom half of the 2nd, Kayden Anderson drew a bases loaded walk scoring in Figueroa and later in the next half inning, JJ Gonzalez would single up the middle scoring in Devane for the third Royals run of the game. Both the Cougars and the Royals would score in the 7th inning bringing the score to 4-1 but in the top of the 9th inning, the Cougars would rally against the Royals as they mustered up 4 runs courtesy of two errors by the Royals scoring in these runs and giving them a 5-4 lead. Trying for a comeback, Luis Cedeno would single via a bunt and a throwing miscue would tie up the game at 5-5. With tensions rising late in the game, it would bring up Danny Garcia to the plate and he would walk the game off with a single down the right field line securing the Royals win by a score of 6-5. The Royals had a great performance on the mound by Noah Harsch with 8 innings pitched, while giving up one run and striking out 9 batters.

Following the walk off win in game one, the Royals struck first in game two in the bottom of the 2nd inning as Carlos Vicente doubled down the left field line scoring in Guevara. However the Cougars would have an offensive strike starting in the third as they would put up three runs in the third inning against the Royals and continued applied pressure during the fifth inning as they put up 10 runs in the fifth inning securing a dominant lead over the Royals. However, the Royals would muster up some runs in the fifth and the sixth starting off with a two run double by Drachir Lugo, followed by Julian Figueroa double down the left field line scoring Lugo. Later on in the inning, Malcolm would single, scoring in the Pinch Runner Brian Garcia cutting the lead to 13-5. In the sixth inning, Pablo Delgado reached on an error by the Cougars scoring in Guevara and the next batter Lugo would hit a sacrifice fly giving the Royals their 7th run of the game. The Cougars would score in the top of the 7th giving them a 14-7 lead over the Royals as that would be the final score in game two.

In the spring of a walk off victory last night in game one and a loss in game two, the Royals started off as Jhenzel Figueroa singled into left field scoring in the first two runs for the Royals. The Royals sent out Logan Hewitt looking for his third win of the season; and he proved to showcase a strong performance as his line finished with 4 innings, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned and striking out five batters. In the top of the fourth inning, the Cougars tied the game as a sacrifice fly would bring in a run and following this an error by the Royals would tie the game at 2 a piece. The Cougars would take the lead on the top of the fifth before the Royals would strike back in the bottom half of the inning. John Malcom would hit his first home run of the season giving the Royals the lead and later on Triston Devane would double down the right field line scoring in Kayden Anderson putting the Royals up by one. The Cougars took the lead in the top half of the sixth, but the Royals would start a comeback as Luis Cedeno would single to left field, scoring Garcia. Later on, a run would score due to an error. Danny Garcia would double to the right center gap scoring in Delgado followed by Devane hitting a sacrifice fly scoring in Lugo giving the Royals a 4 run lead heading into the last inning. However, the Cougars kept fighting on as two pitching mishaps: a balk and a wild pitch: would cut the lead down by two. Your Royals proved to be resistant as they stopped the Cougar comeback and secured the victory by a score of 9-7.

Looking for the series win, The Royals sent out Cauy Massner to the mound looking to secure the victory for the Royals. Your Royals kept up the momentum from last night's win as Figueroa would bring in the first run of the game courtesy of a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first. In the 3rd inning, Diego Guevara singled bringing in pinch runner Brian Garcia across the plate; and the next batter, Danny Garcia singled bringing in Guevara. Up three to nothing, Chris Fergueson singled to right field bringing in Cedeno to put the Royals up by four. Persistently throughout the series proved to be the Cougars, as in the top half of the Sixth; a triple by Zeeb would bring across their first run of the game cutting the Royals lead to three. However in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Royals offense would go off and run again starting with Fergueson getting hit by a pitch scoring a run. Following the hit by pitch, Julian Figueroa would double down the right field line in a bases clearing double. An error by the Cougars' Shortstop would bring in another run for the Royals.
