LAKE WALES, FL- The Royals hosted a three game conference as they hosted their rivals from Webber International University.
In game one, the Royals sent out
Madalyn Morton to the mound looking for a win in the first game of the series. The Royals would take an early lead in the bottom of the first and not allow a comeback to happen as
Samantha Berube would come through with a big two out hit bringing in
Andrea Rebello and
Tyler Mooring giving the Royals an early 2 to nothing lead. The next batter
Autumn Calcagno would hit an infield single bringing in
Allyson Becker for the third run of the game. Having an early 3 to nothing lead, the Royals would score again in the bottom of the second inning as
Tyler Mooring would single, bringing in
Andrea Rebello for the fourth run of the game. The Royals would get a big performance from Morton as she would pitch a complete game shutout giving up 7 hits and striking out 5 batters. The Royals would take game 1 by a score of 4 to nothing.
Following a big game one shutout win, the Royals looked to take game two and secure a series win against their rivals. The Royals started off strong as
Jordan Moore would single, bringing in the first run of the game as the Royals maintained the lead all throughout the game. Back to back errors in the bottom of the fifth would allow Calcagno and Dominguez to score.
Raelyn Roland would add insurance as she would double over the left fielder bringing in Rebello. The Royals wouldn't be done yet as
Grace Derstine would single into the right center gap scoring in Becker and Mooring and a few batters later an error would bring in the 7th run of the game. The Royals had a strong performance from Morton as they secured the game two win by 7 to 0.
Looking for the sweep, the Royals kept the momentum hot from the past two games in the series as three straight rbi singles from
Tyler Mooring,
Allyson Becker, and
Autumn Calcagno would bring in the first three runs of the games for the Royals. The next batter Derstine would bring in the fourth run of the game due to a fielder's choice. The Royals would get backed up by a strong performance from
Allie Hughes as she would pitch a complete game allowing 5 hits and striking out three batters. Throughout the series, the Royals had strong pitching performances from Morton and from Hughes along with strong hitting performances that allowed the Royals to complete the sweep against the Warriors. Looking to stay hot after the sweep, the Royals travel to Southeastern University as they gear up for a three game series against the Fire starting on April 5th at 4:00 PM.
