Warner Softball Drops Conference Series On The Road To The Fire

LAKELAND, FL- The Royals traveled to Southeastern University and faced off against the Fire for a three game weekend series.

In Game one, the Royals looked to steal momentum from the Fire as Jordan Moore would strike first with a double to the right center gap bringing in Raelyn Roland. The Royals led an early one to nothing but the Fire would tie the game in the bottom half of the second inning due to a sacrifice fly. The Fire would take the lead in the bottom of the third, as Gonzalez would hit a three run homerun and later in the inning a single down the right field line would give them a 4 to 1 lead. Andrea Rebello would draw a bases loaded walk bringing in the second run of the game for the Royals. In the bottom half of the 4th and the 5th, the Fire would add insurance runs as they would extend their lead by two rbi singles up the middle and capitalizing on a error by the Royals. The Royals would fight hard but fall in game one by a score of 2 to 8.

After a game one loss, the Fire took an early lead against the Royals as they took an early two to nothing lead in the first after a double to the left center gap. Pitching would slow down both offenses as Morton and Edan would limit the scoring until the bottom of the fifth inning as a sacrifice bunt would bring in their third run of the game followed by an infield single bringing in their 4th run of the game. In the bottom of the sixth, the Fire would hit a triple and a double back to back extending their lead by a score of 6 to nothing. The Royals battled hard in game two but fell by a score of 0 to 6.

After dropping the first two games, the Royals looked to take the rubber match of the three game series. The Royals tried to slow down the Fires' bats but the Fire would take an early two run lead following a rbi double and followed by a single. The fire would continue to add insurance runs against the Royals as they would score five more runs in the second inning due to back to back rbi singles followed by a bases loaded walk and then a two run single into right field extending their lead to early 7 to nothing lead. The Royals were held scoreless until the top of the seventh inning as Roland would come through with an rbi single scoring in Rebello and was quickly followed by Grace Derstine hitting an rbi single bringing in Berube and putting the Royals down by five. The Royals showcased constant fight throughout the series but would drop game three by a score of 2 to 7. The Royals look to battle back as they host a three game series starting on April 12th against College of Coastal Georgia at 4:00 PM.
