Royals Secure Victory Number Two in Day One of the Running Eagle Classic, 3-0

MARIETTA, GA - In an impressive start to the Running Eagle Classic, the Warner University Royals women's volleyball team secured a dominant 3-0 victory over the Bryan College Lions on August 23, 2024, at Life University in Marietta, GA. The Royals, under the guidance of their skilled coaching staff, showcased a strong and cohesive performance, overpowering their rivals in a decisive match.

The first set proved to be the most challenging, as the Royals edged out the Lions with a narrow 28-26 victory. However, the subsequent sets saw Warner University gaining momentum and comfortably winning with scores of 25-14 in both the second and third sets. This triumph not only highlighted their strategic prowess but also set the tone for their capabilities in the tournament.

Leah Cooley led the attack with an impressive 12 kills, supported by Rylee Waldie and Kailani Zezas, who added 9 and 6 kills respectively. The defensive efforts were equally strong, with Leonelis Fernandez achieving 3 crucial blocks. The teamwork was further evident in other areas of the game; Ashlyn Fassnacht and Skye McDermott each delivered pivotal services, registering 2 aces each to disrupt the Lions' formation.

Additionally, the Royals showed depth in their lineup through effective assists and digs, with Imar Laboy making a significant impact by distributing 34 assists and Ashlyn Fassnacht following closely with 22. On the defensive end, Fassnacht, Leah Cooley, and Imar Laboy collected 12, 11, and 10 digs respectively, showcasing their readiness and alertness throughout the game.

The Warner University Royals are set to face the St. Andrews Knights in the next round of the Running Eagle Classic.
