Royals Shines in Season Opener Victory Over Trinity Baptist Eagles, 11-2

LAKE WALES, FL - The Warner University Royals women's soccer team opened their regular season with a resounding 11-2 win against the Trinity Baptist College Eagles on August 24, 2024, at the Royals Soccer Field. The home team's commanding performance left a significant mark, showcasing their potential for the season ahead.

Despite an early scare where the Royals were down by two goals, they made a stunning comeback, with the halftime score favoring them at 5-2. Their relentless pressure and strategic gameplay led to an even more dominant second half, closing the game at an impressive 11-2. Jillian Johnson, Yami Fuentes, Clarissa Chew, and Mariah Matta each contributed two goals, with Johnson also providing three crucial assists. Other scorers for the Royals were Reinna Scott, Juanita Parra-Acosta, and Victoria Fuentes.

Yami Fuentes scored the game-winning goal, sealing the victory for Warner University's team. Assists were plentiful with Jaclyn Malagies, Sophia Manchisi, and Sabrina Bouchachia helping to set up crucial goals. The Royals' goalie, Haley Houweling, played a significant role in fending off further attempts from the Eagles.

Jillian Johnson was highlighted for her standout performance, not just for her goals but also for her leadership in creating opportunities. The game not only tested Warner University's resilience but also demonstrated their ability to control the match and execute their game plan effectively.

The Royals are now preparing to face the Florida College Falcons in their next game on August 27 in Temple Terrace, FL.
