LAKELAND, Fla. – The Warner University Women's Volleyball team traveled to Lakeland, Florida, on Wednesday evening for a SUN Conference matchup against the Fire of Southeastern University. The Royals opened the match with a strong first-set win but ultimately fell 3-1 to the Fire with set scores of 25-20, 19-25, 16-25, and 18-25.
Warner came out with energy in the opening frame, securing the first set 25-20 behind efficient hitting and disciplined defensive play. Despite the early momentum, Southeastern adjusted in the following sets, rallying to claim the match.
Warner Match Leaders:
The Royals were led by Leah Cooley, who recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 17 digs, and Imar Laboy, who also notched a double-double with 18 assists and 19 digs. Julliana Abbade led Warner's defensive presence at the net with six total blocks, while Rylee Waldie added four.
Despite the loss, Warner displayed strong teamwork and consistency throughout the match, showing continued growth in conference play.
The Royals will return home to the Turner Athletic Center on Saturday, October 4, to host Florida Memorial University in their next SUN Conference matchup. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
