Warner Baseball takes down #7 Lewis-Clark St on opening day, 11-4

LAKE WALES, FL- OPENING DAY) The Royals kicked off the 2025 season against the visiting Warriors of Lewis-Clark State College.

The Royals first game with Coach Luke Jacksich at the helm, featured an action-packed nine innings in front of a stacked house at Royals Baseball Field. The scoring got started early for the Royals, as Julian Figueroa belted a two-run homer over the center field wall, jumping the Royals out to a two-run lead. Trenton Chenard toed the rubber for the Royals and was able to get out of early jams, limiting the Warriors to one run through three and two thirds, while tacking on four punch outs. Harsch proceeded Chenard and was efficient, going four and a third: limiting the opponents to three hits and recording six strikeouts. One of those hits was a three-run home run given up to Noah Weintraub who put LC State up 4-2. The Royals would be held off the scoreboard until the seventh inning, which saw Ian Anderson deliver a clutch, pinch hit single, scoring Cesar Franco and cutting the Warriors lead to one. Entering the 8th, trailing by one, the Royals would come alive after a leadoff HBP to Diego Guevara. Jorge Periera delivered a clutch SAC fly to tie the game at four, and following a walk, Sebastian Kuhns would regain the lead for Warner with an RBI single plating Figueroa. Three straight walks by the Warriors plated two more and loaded the bases for Guevara due up. In what was the most electric moment of the night, Guevara jumped on a hanging slider, sending it on top of the Turner Athletic Center, for a grand slam, delivering a crushing blow to the visiting Warriors. Austin Vakiener entered the game for the Royals leading 11-4 and delivered a 1-2-3 inning to give the Royals their first win of the season.
