LAKE WALES, FL — Warner University softball team had a mixed outcome during their SUN Conference Double Header against the Keiser Seahawks. The Royals, adorned in their vibrant navy and gold, celebrated Senior Night on April 25, 2025, securing a win in the first game but falling in the second. The day was marked by bright sunshine and warm temperatures, reflecting the bittersweet farewell of Warner's graduating seniors.
The Royals clinched a close 2-1 victory in the first game thanks to key performances.
Remy Camp and
Grace Derstine crossed the plate, contributing the essential runs. Derstine along with
Meagan Bruns also earned RBIs, further sealing the win.
Keirsten Garman took charge from the mound, delivering a strategic pitch game that was crucial for their narrow victory. Warner's tactical prowess shone in the final innings, ensuring they led when it mattered.
However, the momentum shifted drastically in the second game where Keiser dominated, leaving Warner with a 9-0 loss.
Tyler Mooring started on the pitcher's mound for Warner, followed by
Keirsten Garman, and
Elle Hernandez, but the Seahawks overpowered the Royals, tying the day's series. The loss does little to overshadow the poignancy of the day, with Warner Athletics celebrating five of their seniors:
Allyson Becker,
Samantha Berube,
Remy Camp,
Erica Semler, and
Tyler Mooring, who were honored during the event.
The current record stands at 12-27 for Warner University. They are slated to wrap up the season against the same Keiser Seahawks on April 26, 2025, providing the Royals an opportunity for redemption on their home turf at Daly Field.
