SARASOTA, Fla. - The Royals kicked off their 2025 season with a challenging away game against the New College of Florida Banyans on August 21, 2025. Held at the NCF Bayfront, the match concluded with a 3-0 defeat for the Royals, setting a tone for improvement in the upcoming games.

The first half saw the Royals defending staunchly but ultimately conceding a goal, leaving them trailing by 1-0 at halftime.  Despite efforts to equalize in the second half, The Royals found themselves further behind as New College added 2 additional goals to the tally for the Banyans, securing their lead with three unanswered goals.

Mikey Melvin, the goalie for Warner, faced a tough day at the office with New College's aggressive offensive strategies (15 shots faced, 5 saves, and 3 GA). Unfortunately, the Royals could not capitalize on their offensive plays (7 shots with 4 SOG), leading to a scoreless outing for the team. 

Looking ahead, the Royals will host Shawnee State University on August 23, 2025, at the Royals Soccer Field at Warner University. This upcoming match presents an opportunity for Warner to rectify the setbacks from their opener and aim for a victory in front of their home crowd. Currently, their record stands at 0-1-0 for the season.
