LAKE WALES, Fla. - Warner continued their SUN Conference series against the Florida Memorial University Lions in a Friday double-header. The Royals earned a statement 11-to-4 win in game 1 and battled with the Lions in game 2 that ultimately would end in favor of FMU with a final score of 3-to-2.
Game 1: Royals WIn 11-4
The Lions got the jump on Warner in the opening Innings of the 1st game of Friday's double-header and would take a 4-to-0 lead over the Royals after 3 and a half Innings. Warner broke through in the bottom of the 4th Inning putting up a crooked number of their own after stringing together at-bats and timely hits cutting the FMU lead to 1.
JD Swarbrick drove in the first run of the game for the Royals on an RBI single into left that saw
Danny Garcia reaching home safely. Freshman
Evan Ledoux followed that up with a bases loaded 2 RBI single to right field to score
Paddy Smith and Swarbrick to get the Royals to 3 runs.
Warner's bats stayed hot in the 5th and would create another rally to take a 6-to-4 lead.
Adriel Torres-Gonzalez drove in the game tying run with run with a bases-loaded RBI single to right field scoring

Dawson Schumann would give the Royals the lead hitting a 2 RBI single into left field in the next at-bat to score
Horiam Santiago and Smith. The Royals kept their foot on the gas in the 6th to earn more insurance runs before entering the 7th and final Inning of the game. Warner's aggressive baserunning highlighted the 5 run 6th forcing the Lions into making errors and taking advantage of the those to extend their lead.
Danny Garcia scored the 1st run of the Inning after Santiago's attempted sacrifice bunt lead to a throwing error that advanced all 3 runners.
Ethan Pues followed that up with a "little league" grand slam, recording an 2 RBI single to the left fielder who committed a fielding error that lead to the ball getting away from the Lions defense. All 4 Royals base-runners showed tremendous effort in reaching home before the Lions were able to get the ball back into the infield. Warner was able to close out the 7th without incident to secure their 11-to-4 Conference win.
Easton Nunez earned his 4th win of the season in game 1, pitching 5 Innings while allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. The Freshman pitcher continues to grow into a consistent starter for the Royals and is 1 out away from breaking the 40 Inning's pitched mark in his young career.
Evan Christ recorded his 1st save of the year, earning a 2 Inning save after entering the game with a 3 run lead in the 6th Inning. Christ allowed only 1 hit and no walks with 2 strikeouts in his 2 Innings of work to help the Royals earn their 8th Conference win of the Season.

Game 2: Royals Fall 3-2
The 2nd game of Friday's double-header was nearly the complete opposite of game 1 becoming a tightly contested pitcher's duel.
JD Swarbrick gave the Royals an early lead hitting an RBI single up the middle to score
Evan Ledoux in the 1st Inning.
Dawson Schumann continued to be a force at the plate in this series against FMU driving in the Royals 2nd run of the game on a RBI single into left-center field that scored Torres-Gonzalez. FMU would eventually take the lead from the Royals in the 7th and hold on to take a 3-to-2 win.
Gage Allen had another strong outing for the Royals in Friday's 2nd game, recording 6 Innings while allowing only 1 run on 4 hits. Allen also tied his single season record for strikeouts Friday night with 7, bringing his season total to 29.
Luke Courville did well for the Royals out of the bullpen, throwing 2 Innings and allowed on 1 earned run on 3 hits and struck out 3. Freshman
Dillon Grace was able to hold the Lions to 1 run lead coming into the game in a high leverage situation in the top of the 9th.
Warner will look to build off of Friday's strong performances as they attempt to take the series tomorrow.
