RECAP: Royals Fall to New College of Florida 6-4 on The Road

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Royals kicked off their 2nd SUN Conference series this week on Friday taking on the Mighty Banyans of New College of Florida on the road. Warner battled with the Mighty Banyans until the end, but were unable to complete the comeback and would fall 6-to-4.

The Royals wasted no time to score their first run of the game during the 2nd at-bat of the 1st Inning. Diana Martin scored when Autumn Calcagno got the ball into play and reached on an error by the Banyans third baseman. NCF answered back quickly in the bottom of the Inning knotting the game up at 1 run each. Warner retook the lead in the 3rd after a string of strong at-bats by the Royals loaded the bases for Meagan Bruns who was able to hit an RBI single that scored Calcagno. The Royals weren't done in the 3rd driving in a 2nd run on a Grace Derstine sacrifice fly that brought Alisha Wagoner home safely and give the Royals a 3-to-1 lead.

Both teams struggled to create offense over the next few Innings until the Mighty Banyans were able to break through in the bottom of the 6th and would take a 6-2 lead into the final Inning of the game. Warner fought until their last out, rallying to score Martin on a Jillian Hudson RBI single with 2 outs in the 9th. The Royals were unable to claw any more runs back and would fall 6-to-4.

Offensively the Royals saw production across their lineup as three different Royals were able to record 2 hits each including Abby Faircloth, Martin and Hudson. All four of Warner's 4 runs were batted in by 4 different Royals showing the team's offensive depth.
