RECAP: Royals Bested by Grand View University

LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Royals fell to Grand View University at home in a Tuesday double-header at Daly Field, falling in game 1 by a score of 5-0 and game 2 9-1.

The Royals returned home on Tuesday after a SUN Conference road series at #18 St. Thomas University to begin a 9 game homestand over the next two weeks. Warner took on a strong Grand View University program in a double-header Tuesday evening to begin a 6 game week and 2 weeks full of home games. Although the results of both games did not go the way that the Royals had hoped, they still had some bright spots that they will look to build upon as they move towards restarting Conference play next week.

Diana Martin continued her strong start to the season at the plate reaching base 5 times in 6 plate appearances on Tuesday and has now reached base at least once in all but 1 game so far this season. In game 1, Martin recorded 1 hit and drew 2 walks as well as recorded the Royals lone stolen base. The Senior Catcher reached base successfully two more times in game 2 with a hit and walk, and was credited with the Royal's only RBI when she drove in Hannah Wilen on an RBI single. Elle Hernandez had a strong outing in game 1 for the Royals in the circle as she pitched 3.2 Innings and recorded 3 strikeouts while only allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits.

Warner will look to bounce back when they take on Calumet College of St. Joseph in a double-header on Friday.
