LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Warner Baseball team continued their SUN Conference series against (RV) Keiser University on Friday in a double-header that saw
Gabriel Rodriguez stealing 4 bases and bringing his season total to 31 stolen bases on the year. The Seahawks got the best of the Royals on Friday taking a tightly contested game 1 by a score of 6-to-5 and game 2 by a score of 15-to-5.Â
Game 1: Royals 5 - (RV) Keiser 6
After going down 1-0 in the top of the 1st Inning the Royals responded with their own run on a
Jhenzel Figueroa RBI single up the middle to score Rodriguez who put himself into scoring position after stealing second earlier in the Inning, Over the next few Innings the Seahawks began to pull away from the Royals with a 5-to-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 4th. Warner was able to create a rally in the bottom of the Inning and cut down the Seahawk lead to 1. The Royals lead off the Inning with 3 straight hits including a 2 RBI single hit by
Paddy Smith that scored
Adriel Torres-Gonzalez and
Jacob Gumieny.
Timothy Dunn brought in the Royals 4th run of the game when he drove in Smith on an infield RBI single to 2nd base. Following a quiet 5th Inning, both teams went back-and-forth scoring a run each in the 6th.
Evan Ledoux recorded an RBI on a ground out that scored Torres-Gonzalez to give the Royals their 5th run of the game. Warner was unable to tie the game back up before the final out of the game and would fall 6-to-5.Â
Luke Courville and
Dillon Grace had strong outings out of the bullpen in Friday's game 1 as both pitchers recorded 1.1 Innings pitched to keep the Royals within striking distance. Courville did not surrender a hit and allowed only 1 run with 2 strikeouts while Grace kept the Seahawks off the scoreboard and allowed only 1 hit before
Daniel Nava closed out the 7th recording the final out of the Inning.Â

Despite Keiser getting the best of the Royals in game 2, Warner still saw strong performances on offense recording 5 runs on 10 hits with 7 stolen bases. The Royals 1st run of the game was created because of
Gabriel Rodriguez's aggression on the bases stealing both 2nd and 3rd base after reaching on a single and bringing his season total to 30 stolen bases. Rodriguez was then able to score when
Danny Garcia earned an RBI on a ground out to 1st. Torres-Gonzalez scored the Royals 2nd run of the game after forcing a throwing error by the Seahawks pitcher after an attempted pick off in the 4th Inning. The Royals added 2 more runs in the 5th when
Danny Garcia hit a solo Home Run, his 2nd of the year, to right field and on a RBI single by
Jacob Gumieny to score Figueroa. Warner's final run of the game was scored on an RBI single by Garcia for his 3rd RBI of that saw Rodriguez reach home safely.Â
Warner will look to split the series tomorrow in the series finale with (RV) Keiser University.Â
