Mariah Williams gave the Royals a 65-57 victory over conference opponent Ave Maria on Saturday. Williams finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 steals in the game. The Royals had a big second quarter, out-scoring the Gyrenes 13-4 to take a 31-18 lead into halftime.
The Gyrenes would have a big quarter of their own in the third scoring 26 points and making it a five point game, 49-44, after the third, however, the Royals proved to be too much in the end. A Sarah Poehlman three pointer with 4:05 left in the fourth quarter broke the back of the Gyrenes and the Royals were able to come away with the 8 point victory.
I'munique Green finished the game with a double-double, scoring 11 points and coming away with 10 rebounds in the win.
The Royals are back in action Wednesday, February 10 at 5 p.m. They will be facing off with the Bobcats from St. Thomas University.
