Basketball Loses To Lions

Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The women's basketball team was at home on Saturday afternoon to take on Sun Conference opponent Florida Memorial Lions. The first half went just how the Royals had planned as they forced 10 turnovers and were able to outscore the Lions in both quarters to take a 34-29 lead at the half. In the first quarter, the Royals used an early 7-0 run to build up their lead and hold on to it 16-15 at the end of the first. Then in the second quarter, the Royals finished off the half with a 16-4 run to take the lead at the break. In the third quarter, the Lions went on an 8-2 run to finish out the quarter and pull themselves within three points of the Royals. However, the fourth quarter did not go well for the Royals as they were only able to score one point in the final 5:32 of the game to fall 64-56 to the Lions. Warner was led by I'munique Green with 15 points and Kaley Schmick with 13 points. Warner fell to 9-13 (3-7) on the season after the loss. Next up the Royals will travel down to Johnson and Wales on February 2 at 7 pm.
