Box Score 2 LAKE WALES, Fla.- On Tuesday, the Royals bats came alive as they would score 19 runs in two games to come away with a double header sweep of West Virginia Tech Golden Bears, 9-0 and 10-1. The Royals got an outstanding pitching performance from Chelsie Valentine as she threw a complete game shutout with 11 strikeouts. The Royals scored four runs in the first that was capped off by a 3 RBI, bases clearing, triple by
Megan Hammett. The Royals would then get three more runs in the third on RBI singles by Hammett,
Madison Taylor, and Cailyn Delones. With the Royals up 7-0 in the bottom of the fifth, they would end the game via the mercy rule on an error that would score
Ashton Sparkman and
Torey Scott for the 9-0 victory.
Warner's offense didn't cool off any between games as the Royals would have a huge ten run first inning. Chantal Crockett would hit a 2 run homerun in her first at bat to put the Royals up 2-0 early.
Jessica Adams would score on a wild pitch,
Madison Taylor would hit an RBI double, and Taylor would score on an error to put the Royals up 5-0. In her second at bat of the inning,
Chantal Crockett would walk to force in a run to make it 6-0. This brought up
Jessica Adams with the bases loaded and she would come through for the Royals with a grand slam to end the scoring for Warner in the first inning. The ten runs in the first would be all the Royals would need to coast to a 10-1 game two victory.
Brooke Farrer would pitch a complete game for the win on the mound and striking out six batters.
The Royals will travel to Lakeland to take on Southeastern University on Friday and Saturday for a conference series. Friday's game is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
