Warner University Sports Hall of Fame
Scott Hilinski came to Warner as a freshman from Lake Mary High School in 1999. During his three-year stint at Warner, Hilinski immediately became a staple in the Royals line-up, contributing greatly to the success of the program. He was also a member of the only team to make it to the NAIA World Series in 2001. His achievements on the diamond as a shortstop and the permanent lead-off batter in 2001, garners Hilinski with seven current records that have remained for over 15 years in the record books.Â
Those records include RBIs in a season (75), Stolen Bases in a season (53), At-bats in a season (249), Games in a season (69), Runs in a season (92), Career Runs (179), Total Bases in a season (163) and he is tied with three other players for Doubles in a season (20).
 His performance at Warner led to a 23rd round draft pick for the Arizona Diamondbacks in June 2001. Hilinski played in the minors from 2001-2002 and played in the independent league in 2003. He played for two teams in 2001, Yakima Bears (WA) and Missoula Ospreys (MT). In 2002 he played for Class A South Bend Silver Hawks (IN) and finished with the Baton Rouge Riverbats (LA). In his minor league career, Hilinski made 323 plate appearance, had 275 at-bats, scored 45 Runs, 54 Hits, 29 RBIs, batted .196, and added in 80 Putouts.Â
Hilinski currently serves as part owner and COO of the Orlando Scorpions. He is also the Varsity Head Baseball Coach at Orangewood Christian, a position he has held since 2010. For the last 12 years, he has been an Insurance Consultant for Insurance Office of America (IOA).Â
In 2004, Hilinski returned to Warner and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management. He and his wife Rachel, have two children, Grayson and Sage, and reside in Lake Mary, Florida.
